| April 18 the weather is very warm and the
ice is almost all gone. A new record early ice out for 2010 |

| April 19 Howey Bay from Green
Airways. Most of the local lakes are clear of ice. |

| April 27 We went to Monroe
Lake. I have been planning to fix the ramp and the dock as soon
as we had lower water levels. After a 2 year delay we finally
have the lower levels. |
![]() |
| We walked the portages for Monroe and
Unnamed cutting out the winter dead falls. All portages are in
good shape. The low water levels necessitated paddling the last
100 feet into the portage at Unnamed Lake. |

| It is so nice having a home in the
bush. The local male partridge has been drumming at regular
intervals every day. Louise took this picture of his display in
our driveway. |

| May 17/10 we are back from visiting family
in Massachusetts and ready to work. The weather is fantastic and
I got a sunburn working at Goose Lake today. The water level is
very low. |

| May 20/10 Today we went to Poirier
lake to get it ready for the the first group. We take the dock to
a sheltered bay each fall and remove the anchor pipes. In the
spring we return the dock and reinstall the anchor pipes. |

| The really great news at Poirier this
season is that the eagles are back in the nest next to the cabin. |

| May 26/10 I went to the portage to
Nechigona to move the boat ramp and get the boats ready. Compare
the picture at the right with the picture taken in the same spot last
year (click here) |

| On the way down the river these 2 Arctic
Swans flew by. |

inch Walleye at Goose Lake in 2010 |

| June 7/10 Jim's glory was short
lived. Ed Husting caught this 31 inch Walleye second cast below
Whitedog Falls |

| You might recall that in the fall of 08 I
replaced all of the damaged siding at Cherrington Lake. It
appears the bear did not appreciate my efforts and seriously damaged 2
sides of the cabin and 2 sides of the shed. |

| Yes, we have wireless internet at Goose
Lake. |
![]() |
| The new bulletin board is doing a good job
of letting people know how the fishing has been this season. So
good in fact that the Theisen crew from Cherrington (2 of them caught
240 Walleyes in one day) want to go to Unnamed in 2011. We have repaired the bear damage at Cherrington. |
![]() |
| We also put steel siding on the shed.
The old cedar siding
will make great firewood in 2011. If you are interested in how Cherrington lake did this season, the Theisen crew also reported Walleye 24-27 inches and Northern 32-37 inches. |

hope to start picking by late August and finish in late September. |

harvest is in full swing. 4,000 pounds picked as of September 1/10 |
