Haunt Outposts' Goose Lake Camp
Fly-out
Walleye
and
Northern Pike fishing 65 miles north-east of
Red Lake, Ontario, CanadaLoon Haunt Outposts' Goose Lake camp is located on the Berens River, a 65 mile fly-in from Red Lake, Ontario. We fish Walleye and Northern Pike on Goose Lake and Nechigona Lake. Our camp is small (4 cabins), and we hold a maximum of 24 people. There are no other camps on Goose Lake or Nechigona Lake. Camp life is very relaxed and unstructured, we encourage guests to set their own pace. To locate us on a map, look north-east of Red Lake past Trout Lake to the Berens River and a group of 4 lakes - Upper Goose Lake, Mamakwash Lake and the 2 smaller lakes (often unlabeled on maps), are Goose Lake and Nechigona Lake. We built the camp from scratch starting in 1978. As you will see by our conservation policy, we are very protective of our fantastic fishing resource. Our aim is for everyone to catch hundreds of fish and a big one. We realized many years ago that the only way we could reach our goal was to protect our breeding stock and minimize the pressure on the resource. We believe our policy of not killing any large fish, only consuming small fish for fish dinners and offering only a NO take home fish package, maximizes your chances to catch and photograph a big one and at the same time catch and release hundreds of fish during your stay. |

Everyone loves the modified Loon Haunt boats at Goose Lake. They feature 9.9 hp Honda 4 stroke motors with electric start, 12 volt outlets for fish locators, comfortable swivel seats and our new walk through seats. Once you have tried them you will want to know why all boats aren't this way. |
The new
look at Goose Lake. Like most fly in camps our
main entrance and our service entrance are the
same. In an effort to improve first impressions
we built "the wall" to hide our service items.
(Propane tanks, fuel drums) To make it easier
for guests to reach the boats we built a deck in front
of the service building. The new
sign added to the wall is the preferred location for
group photos. |

At Goose Lake everyone starts their trip
with a nice clean pressure washed 16 foot Lund boat
complete with comfortable swivel seats and unlimited
gasoline. |

The answer to the question "GOT
ICE?" is yes, we have an ice machine churning out
ice cubes to supply the camp and the
outposts. Our ice is made with our crystal
clear spring water that is double treated and safe to
drink. |

Our Conservation Policy |
Our pristine lakes have very limited fishing
pressure and it is our wish to preserve the
fantastic quality of this precious resource. To
this end we have adopted the following fishing
restrictions: no one is to harm in any way a
Walleye over 18 inches or a Northern over 27
inches. These fish represent our breeding stock
and must immediately be returned to the water
after catching. Grab ONE quick photo, but do not
put the fish on a stringer or delay its return
to the water. We encourage fishing barbless as
it reduces the mortality rate when catching and
releasing fish. It's possible to catch and
release hundreds of fish per day.
We invite you to eat your fill
of smaller fish but allow no take home fish at
all. |
