Loon Haunt Outposts guest comments

Loon Haunt Outpost Cabins offers 5 fly out locations North of Red Lake Ontario Canada offering great  Walleye and Northern Pike fishing.  People are pleased with what we offer and say the following about us.

People Say the Nicest Things About Us

We have wasted a lot of money over the past 30 years looking for the perfect camp. Now we've found it. We appreciate the service, cleanliness of cabins and boats, and the excellent fishing. Not to mention the beautiful northern "bush" scenery. This is truly a first class operation. Please keep it this way and don't allow the game hogs to deplete your fish stock. Ron and Hazel, Pringle, SD.

No complaints at all.  Your outpost at Poirier was by far the nicest I've ever been to, your directions posted on the cabin bedroom wall is very precise and very helpful.  The fishing is great.  Service great.  I will be back and I will tell my friends about Loon Haunt.  Greg and Adam, Chicago, IL

Good things:  Amenities, water system-hot and great pressure, clean, well built cabin, comfortable boats, good notes to help locate spots
Bad things:
Knowing I have to wait 1 year to do it again!  John, Ixonia, WI

Everything was perfect!  The fishing and boat were great.  The cabin was clean and had absolutely everything we needed for a very comfortable stay.  Bill and Louise, you were terrific hosts, so helpful, friendly and informative.  I wouldn't change a thing!  We will definitely be bragging up Loon Haunt Outposts at Goose Lake and Bill and Louise to our families, friends and coworkers.  Thank you for a very relaxing and memorable vacation.  John and Barb, Sheboygan, WI

Our fifth trip since 1982. Fishing is every bit as good as it was 12 years ago. In our opinion, this is the finest vacation place in North America. Can't wait to return. Wish there was some way to slow down the passage of time while here. It flies by. Tad and Matt, Milwaukee, WI.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here at Loon Haunt.  The peace and quiet was wonderful, the accommodations were very comfortable, the fishing and scenery fantastic!  A special thank you to Bill and Louise for their special care to details making this a very memorable trip for us!  Terry and Brenda, Monticello, IL

This was our first trip with Loon Haunt Outposts, but it won't be the last!  The fishing on Goose Lake was awesome, as was the scenery.  It was a great place to get away from the office and spend some quality time with my son.  Both of us will carry memories of our trip here with us the rest of our lives.  Thanks Bill and Louise for your outstanding hospitality!  You've got a great place here at Goose Lake.  Hope to see you again in the not-too-distant future.  Jim
I would also like to thank Bill and Louise for this trip.  It was an experience that I will never forget.  Justin

Bill, first of all I would like to express to you our sincere appreciation for having one of the best fly-in outposts that we have been to so far. The Unnamed Lake outpost met all of our needs in the way that a fly-in camp should but seldom does. Till this day, Marty and I find it hard to believe how one person could be able to maintain the exceptional standards that you've shown at Loon Haunt Outposts. The walleye in the picture was taken at the rivermouth. It was caught on a Berkley Power Grub that was being jigged off the bottom. We weighed the 30 inch walleye on a ten pound scale but as you can see from the picture the walleye went over ten pounds. We would appreciate any information from you concerning if this walleye was the largest one caught at Unnamed Lake this year or before. Also, Marty, who caught and is holding the fish, is six foot five and weighs over 230 (I added that in so that you can get a better perception of the size of this fish). Thank you. Charles, Brooklyn, NY.

Incredible fishing!! Thanks so much for the nickel tour Louise and for lending me Bill's old rain pants.  I appreciate it and we'll definitely  be back!!  Jim, Land O' Lakes, WI

The way you run your fishing camp is a "class act".  We had a great time, caught an unbelievable number of fish and enjoyed the excellent accommodations.  Best of life to both of you!  Bud, Land O' Lakes, WI

We have been at several outposts and this is the best by a long shot. Everything is in excellent condition and the cabin is perfect. If my wife finds out about the hot water and shower she won't let me come again. Thanks for a great week. Steve, Brookfield, WI.

Just a quick note to let you know how much Bill and I enjoyed fishing on Poirier Lake. Your special regulations (No take home fish policy and size limitations) helped to give us a quality week of fishing. Largest Walleyes:  John- (2) 24", (1) 25"   Bill- (1) 23".  We caught many others 18"-22"  Northern:   John- 44", 42", 36 1/2",35", 32"     Bill- 32"    Also all of the equipment was in excellent working condition, such an important part of a trip like this        John Valente

Hi Bill & Louise,
Congratulations on your 40 years in business. You've been remarkable operators and two of the hardest workers I've ever seen.
Thanks for the 40 years cap that you sent with Mike. Although I can no longer make the trip for health reasons, I treasure the memories of fishing at Goose Lake with Mike and your hospitality.
All the best,
Larry Sheldon

Thanks Bill and Louise it has been a pleasure working with you. You run a very good operation with a well run website everything you had provided was exactly what you had said. My cousin (george) and i (mike) just had a fantastic trip with you on Poirier Lake and look forward to returning with you again. Also would like to give  a thanks to Ryan who did a great job flying us both ways and did a good job going over everything at the cabin with us. Please enjoy the following pictures from our trip. Walleye was 28in and 8 lbs  the Northern Pike was 41 1/2 in and 20 lbs  hope this helps with future customers.

We all made it home safely after a long drive. It was a wonderful week of fishing and family fellowship. In one setting for a week I had my three sons, my two stepsons, my son-in-law and nine grandchildren. As one of our group said, " It was epic." We always expect good fishing and fun, but it gets better each year. Thanks again for providing a great place and great fishing. We are really grateful. Thanks. Lynn V

Hello Bill,

It’s been several years now since I last visited one of your cabins, but I remember the great times our family and groups had on eight visits to 3 of your cabins.  Last year I sent my nephew Kevin Cravens to Poirier because he wanted some quality time with his son and at a place where they were sure to catch lots of walleye and pike.  They really enjoyed themselves.  I just turned 90 and find it difficult to travel so far.  I’m in great health, but with more moderate means in retirement.

The pandemic must have been really hard on your business but I see you didn’t let the grass grow under your feet and take the summer off.  You’ve built a wonderful business based on how you treat your customers.  I’m sure the business will rebound quickly now that we have shots for the virus coming on line.

Wish I be there again, but I need to be satisfied with good health and great bass fishing here in Florida.  We are the home to the Toronto Blue Jays, and benefit from so many Canadian friends.

 Best to your family,  Jack
